WNEPHA Dressage Series Horse Show September: Glenville, NY

May 21,  July 23,  September 17

If a WNEPHA show is on Cathy’s calendar it means that she will be attending and is available for coaching if required.

The WNEPHA (Western New England Professional Horseman’s Association) Dressage Series is a series of shows put on by a group of facilities throughout Western New England and Eastern New York. It is a relatively new series, this will be its 3rd year, and is a recent addition to the WNEPHA’s line up. Previously they only sponsored a hunter/jumper series which is very successful and has been running continuously for almost 40 years.

The Dressage Series came about when a group of professionals realized that quite a few of their students were not interested in jumping and would benefit from the opportunities that dressage could offer.

Western Dressage was just coming on the scene, introduced to the area by Cathy Drumm, so it was decided to make the shows a combination of English and Western. It was, and still is in some cases, the only series available in the area to offer quality judging for both English and Western Dressage at reasonable prices.

This series provides an excellent pathway for young horses and novice riders to start competing. At the same time it provides plenty of opportunity for more advanced riders who like to compete but don’t want to take on the expense and formality associated with USDF rated horse shows.

If riders compete at three different locations in the series their points add up towards a possible year end award which is presented at the Awards Banquet. This is a really fun social event, put on in the cold of February, which serves to help us remember that better weather and a new season are on just around the corner.

Cost: For entry fees go to the Stockade Polo Club.

For Cathy’s coaching, $75/day. This includes help with pre-show paperwork (entries, health requirements, points accumulation etc), warm up at the show, including help and advice if horse is overexcited or afraid when they get off the trailer, assistance prepping for tests and calling of the test, if desired.
